While using our site, we may ask you to provide us with certain personally identifiable information (“personal information”) such as:

  • your name,
  • your email address,
  • Internet Protocol (IP) address (anonymized)

We try to limit the personally identifiable information we collect from you to the minimum required to get in touch with you or analyze where you are located and how you use the site to make it more intuitive.

3. How do we collect your data?

You provide us directly with most of the personal information we receive from you. In summary, you provide us information when you:

  • Use or view our website via your browser to understand what pages you are visiting and what were the referring websites.
  • Voluntarily sign up for the newsletter form, use the contact form, email us, comment on the blog posts, subscribe to support us through crowdfunding or membership platforms.

We use several third-party services to operate the site that collect personal information based on your consent. Here we explain in more detail how we collect your data:

Analytics & Cookies

Services used: CloudFlare, Plausible Analytics, Koko Analytics, Litespeed Cache, JetPack, WooCommerce, Pinterest

When you access our website, you agree your IP address may be collected by CloudFlare, Plausible Analytics and Koko Analytics for web analytics purposes. For website caching, we use CloudFlare’s and LiteSpeed Cache’s services.

For our web shop services we rely on JetPack, WooCommerce and Pinterest.

CloudFlare

Cloudflare is a global content delivery network (CDN) provider that speeds up the delivery of the website across multiple locations by caching it. In other words, Cloudflare stores the website on its servers around the world and shows it to different visitors from the nearest location. Instead of a visitor from Japan connecting to a US server (where the website is hosted), the user will see the version available on Cloudflare’s servers in Japan, thus saving time and energy used to display the website.

We rely on CloudFlare analytics to understand how users engage with the website and what are the posts and features most sought after.

We will not know your exact location based on your anonymized IP, but we will know your location at the country level. We want to know your location more broadly to understand where users are coming from and create content that suits these audiences better.

We strive to eliminate all unnecessary cookies. Currently, there are two cookies served by Cloudflare to offer the analytics and caching services. For more information about how they handle your data, you can read here.

For more information, please refer to CloudFlare’s Privacy Policy.

Plausible Analytics

Plausible Analytics is privacy-first, open-source analytics service provider. Plausible was carefully selected out of the multitude of options to strike a balance between protecting your data and providing us with useful analytics to improve our services.

For more information, please refer to Plausible’s Privacy Policy.

Koko Analytics

Koko Analytics is an open-source, privacy by design and self-hosted analytics tool. The tool does not use any external services and respects your privacy. The Koko Analytics setup on our website has the cookies option disabled.

For more information, please refer to Koko Analytic’s official website.

LiteSpeed Cache

This site utilizes caching in order to facilitate a faster response time and better user experience. Caching potentially stores a duplicate copy of every web page that is on display on this site. All cache files are temporary, and are never accessed by any third party, except as necessary to obtain technical support from the cache plugin vendor. Cache files expire on a schedule set by the site administrator, but may easily be purged by the admin before their natural expiration, if necessary. We may use QUIC.cloud services to process & cache your data temporarily.

For more information, please refer to https://quic.cloud/privacy-policy/ for more details.
